Boston Consulting to move office to Ilitch-owned building under construction

A lot of news has been coming out of District Detroit of late. This time, the Ilitches have snagged another big tenant.

Boston Consulting Group, a global management consulting firm, will move its local offices from Troy to an under-construction office and sports medicine facility at 2715 Woodward Avenue. The firm will occupy 30,000 square feet of space at the $70 million facility that’s being built by the Ilitch-owned Olympia Development.

“Moving into Detroit connects us with our clients on a whole new level,” Michelle Andersen, managing director and senior partner of BCG’s Detroit office, said in a release.

Nathalie Warner, Detroit business management director for BCG, told Crain’s Detroit Business that about 100 employees will make the move and that the company plans on making additional hires.

Plans for the five-floor, 127,000-square-foot building call for office space, medical facilities, and ground floor retail. Olympia entered into a 20-year agreement with the Detroit Medical Center to operate the 50,000-square-foot sports medicine facility. The law firm Warner Norcross + Judd will also occupy an entire floor.

Ground broke on the building, situated between Little Caesars Arena and the Mike Ilitch School of Business, in May this year. It’s expected to open in spring 2021.

Last week, Olympia announced that it would redevelop the Women’s City Club Building for $25 million, and that coworking hub Spaces would occupy 47,000 square feet of the historic six-story building.
